Charachtersistics
Aluminium is an extremely light weight metal – about one-third as dense as steel or Copper, making it sought after for certain applications where weight is an issue.
It is malleable and easily fabricated, recyclable and has corrosion resistance and durability due to the protective oxide layer.
Specifications
Aluminium grades that Copper Roofing l Architectural Metalformers uses for its corrosion resistance and metal forming ability are:
5005 Aluminium alloy containing 0.8% magnesium. This has been proven to be easily formed, with excellent weld ability and high corrosion resistance.
5052 Aluminium alloy containing 2.5% magnesium and 0.35% chromium, making this series of Aluminium the most used in marine / coastal applications.
Aluminium finishes available
Mill finish: A smooth finish that dulls reasonably quickly.
Stucco finish: A mill finish, which reduces the reflectance of the original common mill finish.
